Tips About Broadcasting: Some Things Change

When I first “broke into the business,” I vowed I’d never become one of those people who waxed poetic about how good things were in the “old days.” I’ve kept my word. However, something rather extraordinary has happened. I constantly hear 20-somethings drone on and on about how “things aren’t as good as they used to be.”

Although very little surprises me anymore, this recent trend has caught me a bit off guard. From my vantage point, two things are happening. First, these 20-somethings are quickly replacing the veterans we have grown accustomed to seeing. These fortunate few ARE the future. Second, the young journalists I have observed don’t know what they’re talking about.

The business has changed; this much is true. However, the core principles of journalism remain the same.
