My Mentor, and Friend

I would like to dedicate this post to my mentor and dear friend, Dr. Marilyn Schultz. “Dr. Marilyn” as I called her, was my Broadcast Journalism teacher at The University of Texas at Austin and she was truly the best of the best! She died unexpectedly January 10th, in Austin, Texas at the age of 64. I had hoped to see her sometime this month, to tell her about this project – it’s still hard to believe she’s no longer here. The last time we talked by phone, she seemed full of energy and was really excited to learn more about my move across the country! Dr. Schultz was instrumental in helping me get my first break in news. I am eternally grateful to have learned from her. She really cared about journalism, and seeing her students succeed. I sincerely thank you for all you’ve done Dr. Marilyn; you are truly missed.
