Broadcast journalists are writers first. There are several different formats involved in script writing that you will need to know before ever stepping foot in a newsroom. We will cover these formats and I will break down the mechanics of writing a package so that your writing is efficient and avoids repetition. Please come prepared with samples of scripts you have written!

It can be funny sometimes, when you really listen to your own voice on tape. You may hear an accent in the recording that you might not have otherwise noticed. In BiB Voice Coaching, we will work together to identify regional accents and clean up problematic speech patterns. I will show you how to voice scripts so that your recordings are crisp and full of energy! (U.S. clients only)

When you are starting out in news, it can be challenging to find new, original story concepts everyday. In this session, I will share with you several methods I developed for myself as beat reporter, that continue to yield solid results. At the end of the day, viewers and followers demand original content, so you've got to be able to deliver! I will show techniques to keep you ahead of the game.

Part of breaking into the broadcasting business is about who you know! I will show you ways of making those key connections. We will also cover how to handle a news interview. This is not just answering questions from one manager - there is a lot more involved in the process! I will guide you through what to expect, so that you can make a great first impression.

I should let you know up front - I am a real stickler about reviewing resume demos because I want you to walk away with the best product possible. For this service, I will ask you to either email me a link of your work or send me a DVD via mail so that I can review it in advance of our meeting. I look at your writing, your on-air presence, and the overall organization of your resume demo.

In this session we will take a look at the overall package and presentation. We will talk about poise, your look, writing, and speech issues. You will need to send me a link or demo of your work in advance of our meeting.
